High Standard – Low Cost of Living

Malaysia has one of the highest standards of living in Asia while offering low costs for goods and services with the help of efficient Government monitoring. The living standard in Kuala Lumpur, the biggest city is in general quite high, more or less like any other big international city. Malaysia has a good health care system, high caliber international schools, widespread network of highways and seamless communication systems. As an example, Petrol and Electricity on average costs 35% less than it does in Pakistan.

Political Stability and Safety

Political stability has always been a major plus for Malaysia. The current Government of Malaysia is the longest serving freely elected Government internationally and comprises of all groups of people found within the country. The system of government in Malaysia is closely modeled on that of Westminster parliamentary system, a legacy of British colonial rule. This rule of law has enabled the development of an open, democratic society with constitutional guarantees to practice all religions. Malaysia is a very safe country to live in, regardless of race, color, creed and gender. Its multi-ethnic and multi-religious society has ensured generations of in-bred tolerance and respect for people from a multitude of cultures and background. Statistics can proof that Malaysia is one of the safest countries in the world and its crime rate is relatively low, with guns almost non-existent.

Infrastructure & Transportation

The infrastructure in Malaysia is just as good as in any other developed country with well-planned road systems, public transport, local train networks, sewerage and power supply that never plays hide & seek. Satellite TV, broadband and mobile phones are as common here as everywhere else. Kuala Lumpur’s light rail transit system allows for cheap transportation for the masses in fast air-conditioned trains. Malaysia's telecommunications network is more advanced than most Asian countries, and its Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) is designed to create an ideal environment for ICT-related production as well as provide the backbone for an information superhighway.

Islam, Culture and Language

Malaysia is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multilingual society. Islam is the official religion however; all other religions are freely practiced in Malaysia. Mosques can be found in every neighborhood. The Malay language (Bahasa Melayu) is the national language of Malaysia. English is the second language but other languages are also freely used and practiced. Foreigners have no difficulty getting across in English language from designer stores to roadside hawkers, taxi drivers to office workers, all understand, communicate or at least respond to English very well. Malaysia is a melting pot of cultures from the diverse Malay, Chinese and Indian communities. Even though the Malay culture pre-dominates, other cultures are practiced very freely resulting in an interesting pot which makes Malaysia so different and special. Despite most of the festivals being identified with a particular ethnic or religious group, all Malaysians celebrate the festivities together, regardless of their background.

Food from all over the world can be found in Malaysia at very reasonable cost. Halal food is prevalent everywhere including at the American Franchises such as McDonaldl’s, Chili’s, Pizza Hut, KFC, Burger King and Wendy’s. The weather in the tropical paradise of Malaysia is pleasant, warm and tropical with temperatures remaining below 30 degree Celsius, and moderate rain throughout the year. The local climate is equatorial and characterized by the annual southwest (April to October) and northeast (October to February) monsoons. The country has eye-catching natural scenery, from the lush green Cameron Highlands to the exotic beaches in Penang and the islands of Langkawi. Mixed in the rich colonial charm of Malacca, Penang and Kuala Lumpur, it is easy to see why Malaysia is a travelers' paradise. There are a variety of family entertainment facilities in Malaysia, such as theme parks, jungle trails, cinemas, outdoor and indoor sports, water parks and golf courses. Kuala Lumpur is a city that is always awake, at least until the late hours. As KL comes alive in a wave of multi-colored lights when the night falls, there is always something to keep you entertained with the profusion of lively karaoke lounges, pubs with live bands and jazz, discos, cinemas and cineplexes showing contemporary English, Malay, Chinese, Hindi and Indonesian movies, theatres, night clubs, cabarets, bowling alleys etc. The forests in Malaysia are indisputably the oldest in the world and its National Parks are treasure troves of its rich natural heritage. Malaysia's coastline of over 4,800 kilometres now attracts millions of Malaysian and foreign tourists for leisure and relaxation activities. Beaches, islands and coral reefs offer a spectacular venue for all these activities. Numbering more than 190 golf courses throughout Malaysia, they can be found high in the mountains, along seashore, on tropical islands, amidst towering rain forests and in the heart of the cities.
